Austin Princess IV from 1959: a vehicle created for the needs of demanding Englishmen. The first British car with power steering as standard. Luxurious, sophisticated and carefully crafted, the Princess shared opinions in style from the outset. And will continue to do so. This rare model was built in a total of only 199 from 1956 to May 1959, including 22 Touring limousines. One car was completed by hand in 2-3 weeks at the VDP Kingsbury plant in North London. The decor is glorious; thick carpets, plenty of wood, large, thick front seats and a massive legroom at the rear. The well-equipped cab has a deep, comfortable split bench with separate armrests. The Princess IV was touted as a Country Life-type vehicle “specially made for a well-defined group of people.” (source: Guilty Pleasures: Austin Princess IV DS7 By Martin Buckley)
